Botify is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it when you use the Botify Discord bot and dashboard website.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

• Discord User Data: When you log into the dashboard via Discord OAuth2, we receive your Discord user ID, username, discriminator, and avatar hash. We do not receive your email unless you explicitly grant that scope.
• Server (Guild) Data: Server IDs, names, and configuration settings such as prefixes, DJ roles, and welcome messages that you configure through the dashboard or bot commands.
• Usage Statistics: We track anonymous usage metrics such as commands used, songs played, and listening time to power leaderboard features and improve the Service.
• Playlist Data: Songs and playlists you save through the dashboard or bot commands, including track titles, artists, and URLs.
• Session Data: Temporary session cookies used to keep you logged in to the dashboard. These expire when your session ends or after 7 days.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

• Provide and operate the Botify Service, including music playback and server management features.
• Display your profile, avatar, and username on the dashboard and leaderboard pages.
• Save your server settings and playlists so they persist across sessions.
• Power leaderboard rankings based on listening time and songs played.
• Detect and prevent abuse, spam, or violations of our Terms of Service.
• Improve and maintain the Service based on aggregate usage patterns.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in a MongoDB database. We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share data in the following limited circumstances:

• Service Providers: Third-party services necessary to operate the bot, such as Lavalink for audio streaming and SoundCloud for music search. These providers have their own privacy policies.
• Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
• Discord: Your Discord user data is subject to Discord's own Privacy Policy.

5. Cookies

The dashboard uses session cookies to maintain your login state. These are essential cookies required for the Service to function. We do not use tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this will prevent you from logging into the dashboard.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as you or your server continue to use the Service. Server configuration data is deleted when Botify is removed from a server. You may request deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us via our support server.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate data.
• Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
• Restriction: Request that we limit the processing of your data.
• Portability: Request a machine-readable copy of your data.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will delete it promptly. Users must comply with Discord's minimum age requirements.

Botify integrates with third-party services including Discord, SoundCloud, and Lavalink. When you use features powered by these services, your data may be processed by them in accordance with their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review those policies independently.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Policy regularly. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
